Grassroots Organizing Internship
Our grassroots program focuses on a variety of projects depending on the intern's experience and interest. Projects may include preparation of educational materials to ensure informed public involvement in environmental policy and land use decisions, analysis of economic data, research, contacting interested community members, discussing legal and organizing strategies with staff members, and more. The intern will work closely with our Grassroots Organizers in assisting them with current projects. An opportunity to travel in Southeast Alaska with one of SEACC’s organizers may occur.
Qualifications: Must combine strong analytical and communication skills with a strong desire to work with a variety of interests to protect the Tongass.
Legal Internship
Our grassroots legal program is designed to provide local communities and various forest users with legal assistance on forest/public lands issues, including timber sales, mining plans, transportation proposals, water/air quality permits, coastal zone management, and land exchanges. The intern will work closely with our Staff Attorney in assisting them with current projects.
Qualifications: Law students who have completed at least their second year of law school are qualified for our legal intern program. Students who have studied or worked with administrative and natural resource law, and/or environmental regulations, are preferred. Strong writing and communication skills are required.
