Special Places

Industrial logging and road building threaten these high value community use areas that citizens have fought for decades to protect.  Many of these high value wildlands were designated Wilderness in legislation that passed the House of Representatives (but did not become law) in 1989 and/or were set aside from logging in the 1999 Tongass Land Management Plan that has been rescinded by a court order.

SEACC is working to safeguard these and other important places.

Stay tuned as we highlight these places in our wild snapshot seriesContact us if you have images or stories about these special places.
