Castle River

The Castle River and its three main tributaries provide over 30 miles of high quality wild salmon, steelhead and cutthroat trout habitat that produce exceptional commercial and sport fishing opportunities.  Located near Petersburg, the Castle River draws thousands of visitors each year for its nationally significant recreation, fish, waterfowl and wildlife values.  Alaska Department of Fish and Game has classified the Castle River as a "Class I" area deserving permanent protection.  Castle River supports an annual salmon run of over 30,000 fish, including unique runs of summer run coho and a late run of fall steelhead.
