Johnson Lake, Moira Sound

Flowing into Johnson Cove at Moira Sound, the Johnson Lake and Stream system are scenic treasures located on the heavily clearcut southern half of Prince of Wales Island.  This watershed is ecologically significant because of its superlative riparian spruce forests.  Huge floodplain spruce have grown to over nine feet in diameter and 200 feet in height.  The lake is a major sockeye salmon producer and the streams support abundant chum, coho and pink salmon runs.  These regionally significant fishery values attract commercial outfitter and guide services for remote recreational opportunities.   Johnson Cove provides excellent wildlife habitat and superb fishing opportunities within nationally unique scenery.
