Port Houghton

Located at the base of the icefields of the Coast Range near Petersburg, this highly scenic estuary and bay system is graced with stands of enormous old growth spruce and hemlock, miles of productive salmon habitat, and extraordinary wildlife habitat.  Black bears (including the uncommon cinnamon color phase), moose, mountain goats, wolverines, mink, marten, river otter, and wolves are abundant.  One of the largest producers of wild Pacific salmon in Southeast Alaska, Port Houghton is a favorite fishing and wilderness recreation area.  Sandborn Creek is one of the top pink salmon producers in Southeast Alaska with total escapements exceeding 500,000 salmon.
