Water Quality
Clean water is vital to Southeast Alaskans for subsistence, recreation and commercial and domestic uses. Southeast Alaska’s marine and freshwater resources are seriously threatened by pollution from past and current logging, mining activities, contaminated military sites, industrial seafood processing operations and improper waste disposal from cruise ships. SEACC works to protect and maintain Southeast Alaska’s water quality and believes it to be more cost effective to prevent pollution than to attempt to repair the damage after it occurs.
