Join SEACC for a week of climate action!

It has been my biggest honor to be the Indigenous Engagement Lead over the past five years here at SEACC. Over that time, it’s been wonderful to watch our team grow. Now, because we have a larger staff, many located throughout Southeast, there is no longer a need for Indigenous engagement to rest under one person. Indigenous engagement is something all SEACC staff, throughout all program areas and positions, should be doing. Therefore, 2023 brings a transition for me and my work with SEACC, as I am now officially the Juneau Climate Organizer.

Now, I’d like to ask a huge favor of you all to help make this transition as smooth and successful as possible. SEACC is organizing a big week of climate action in the capital city soon, complete with rallies, media interviews, and meetings with Alaska legislators — and we need your help!

If you live in Juneau, we will be hosting a Rally for Alaska’s Climate on Friday, Feb. 3, at noon at the Dimond Courthouse Plaza. I would ask that you join us in showing our legislators that we as Alaskans are demanding responsible climate action be taken this year!

Can you make a call to your representative today, asking them to take action on climate change by supporting the Renewable Energy Fund and Green Bank? Your representatives are:

After you’ve given your rep a call, sign our action’s in support of the Renewable Energy Fund and the Green Bank!

I look forward to this new opportunity to organize efforts in Alaska’s capital toward meaningful climate action from our legislature. I will be working even more closely with SEACC’s Climate Program and with other climate action groups like 350Juneau, Alaskan Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA) Juneau, and the Alaska Climate Alliance to help advance climate goals at the state level.

And I hope I get to work more closely with you, too! Together, we can make things happen in 2023!
