The Global Importance of the Tongass presentation

Can the Tongass Rainforest Be Nature's Life Raft In A Time of Global Warming Crisis?

Dr. Dominick A. DellaSala is the President and Chief Scientist of the Geos Institute, author of the recent book, Temperate and Boreal Rainforests of the World: Ecology and Conservation.

At this presentation, Dr. DellaSala will focus on the global importance of the Tongass rainforest as one of the world's last remaining relatively intact temperate rainforests, what might happen to it as the climate changes, and how it's old-growth forests can act as a "life-raft" for biodiversity and for storing atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Southeast Alaska Conservation Council’s (SEACC) Tongass Blueprint Project and Alaska Climate Action Network will also be there to answer questions about local applications for DellaSala’s cutting edge research.
